PFLAG South is proud to operate Same-Difference in association with Youthline Otago. Same-Difference is Dunedin's queer youth network for young people under 20. SAME-DIFFERENCE COFFEE A relaxed meet-up every third Friday of the month in a semi-discrete inner city café. Meet-ups are alcohol and smoke free. SAME-DIFFERENCE STRUCTURED MEETINGS A discussion group providing a confidential and safe environment to share issues and gain support. This group meets for ten sessions and is facilitated by two trained and professionally supervised youth workers. WHO ATTENDS SAME-DIFFERENCE? Young people, twenty years of age and under, of any sex, from a wide range of cultures and experiences, high-school students, tertiary students, unemployed or employed, talkative, shy, sporty, artistic… A diverse group of young people with a desire to connect with others who are same- or both-sex-attracted or who are gender diverse. Some may seem confident and already identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, takatapui, trans, fa'afafine, intersex or queer, while others may be less sure, confused, or hesitant. GET INVOLVED! - TXT 0274968847- samediffdunedin@gmail.com - Post something on the Same-Difference Facebook Page For the coffee meet-ups, new members can just turn up, but you need to send a TXT to get the location. For the structured meetings, you typically meet up with either Jamie of Phillipa prior to coming for the first time. ABOUT SAME-DIFFERENCE Same-Difference aims to provide a comfortable and positive environment for queer or questioning young people, creating opportunities for new friendships, and providing a forum for discussion about stuff that is important to them. Same-Difference is run by PFLAG South and is associated with Youthline Otago. These two organisations support two friendly youth workers, Philippa and Jamie, to organise and run Same-Difference events and activities. PFLAG South applies for funding from various sources to make Same-Difference happen. |
